Will there be a Brit Awards 2021?

Yes! Although typically held in February, due to the pandemic, it will now take place on Tuesday 11 May 2021 at 8pm.

Where can I watch The BRIT Awards 2021?

The BRIT Awards 2021 will take place at the O2 arena in London to a limited live audience of 4,000 people as part of government’s Events Research Programme, which looks at how venues can restart large events and welcome crowds back safely this summer.

If you don’t have a ticket, you can watch live on ITV1 or the ITV Hub. Before it starts, catch the backstage show, hosted by Maya Jama and Clara Amfo, shown on ITV2 from 7pm to 8pm.

The 2021 Brit Awards will take place on 11 May 2021 and aim to celebrate the best in British and international music. Usually held in February, the ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[1] The 2021 Brits will be hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall, who has hosted the awards since 2018 and will equal the record set by former host and The Late Late Show host James Corden who hosted the ceremony in four consecutive years.

It will be held at The O2 in Greenwich, Greater London for the 11th successive year after taking over from Earls Court for the 2010 Brit Awards ceremony hosted by Corden.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic where close contact with others was greatly curtailed, the 2021 Brits will be held with a limited live audience as part of a test by the UK government to trial the idea of crowds with no social distancing. Oliver Dowden, head of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, announced that the Brits will join the FA Cup Final and World Snooker Championship final as events that will feature larger crowds than allowed by law at the time. Dowden stated that "these test events will be crucial in finding ways to get fans and audiences back in safely without social distancing. We will be guided by the science and medical experts, but will work flat out to make that happen. We want to get the people back to enjoying what they love and ensure some of our most important growth industries get back on their feet. These are important steps towards the safe and special summer we all crave, and that I’m fully focused on delivering."

On 22 April 2021, it was announced that the ceremony will have a live audience of 4,000 key workers from London. As part of the pilot programme, everyone who attends will have to return a negative COVID PCR test before and after the ceremony. However, the crowd won't need to be socially distanced or have to wear face masks once inside The O2. The other events that are part of the pilot scheme are: an event at a Liverpool Nightclub on 30 April and 1 May which will host 3,000 people per night, a 5,000-capcity gig in Liverpool on 2 May, the Emirates FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Leicester City on 15 May which will have 21,000 spectators just four days after The Brits and the Carabao Cup Final between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur on 25 April which will have 2,000 spectators.

Nominees for the Rising Star Award were announced on 11 March 2021[12] and the winner was announced on 19 March 2021.[13] The nominees for the other categories were announced on 31 March 2021 by BBC Radio 1's DJ Nick Grimshaw and 2021 Rising Star Award winner Griff.

On 9 May 2021, it was announced that Taylor Swift will be awarded of the Global Icon Award at the 2021 BRIT Awards "in recognition of her immense impact on music across the world and incredible repertoire and achievements to date." She will be the first female artist and first non-British act to receive the BRITs' highest accolade which was previously received by Elton John (2014), David Bowie (2016), and Robbie Williams (2017).
